Teaching & supervision

I lead research students training across the Faculty of Business and Law at De Montfort University and teach postgraduate modules in innovation, strategy and research methods.

Modules led

• Business Projects (BSc)

  Module Leader, since 2024. A module I developed from scratch, helping students diagnose and solve real problems in contemporary businesses. 520 students, 150 hours.

• Innovation and Technology Management (MSc)

  Module Leader, since 2023. Covers how firms use technology and innovate in a complex business environment. 250 students, 84 hours.

Other teaching

Operations and Service Quality Management (MSc, 2023) · Strategic Management (MBA, 2023) · earlier modules on development theory and planning, technological entrepreneurship, and research methodology at NACETEM, Federal University of Technology Minna, and Tshwane University of Technology.

Doctoral supervision

I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students working on innovation systems, entrepreneurship in developing economies, or STI policy, particularly where the project involves quantitative or mixed methods.

First supervisor — five current students, one completed in 2026 (on ecosystem dynamics)

Mentoring

I mentor early-career researchers through AuthorAID and the AfricaLics Visiting Fellowship Programme, and have supported postgraduate researchers at Tshwane University of Technology and Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

Mentees I've supported have gone on to win competitive British Academy ECRN funding, including a Development Fund Event Convening award and a 2026 Policy Convening Fund award for a project on local labour markets, migrant workers and net zero.
