Background
This essay competition is aimed at pupils of secondary schools in Ife East Local Government, Osun State, Nigeria. It is designed as a pilot for a much larger initiative to follow.
Objective
The objective of this competition is to provide a platform for young minds to express themselves and to encourage critical thinking and writing skills among students. We believe that by engaging them in thoughtful discussions on relevant topics, we can contribute to their personal growth and development.
Eligibility
Current pupils of private and public secondary schools in Ife East Local Government of Osun State, Nigeria.
Essay Topics
The competition is in two categories - junior secondary and senior secondary. Interested applicants are to take note of the topics below and choose the one that applies to them.
A. Junior Secondary (JS)
What does “Education na scam” mean to you and your friends? Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain your reasons with examples. (500 words)
B. Senior Secondary (SS)
What are the causes and consequences of the perception that “Education na scam” among Nigerian youths? How can this perception be changed or challenged? (750 words)
Prizes
Top three essays will receive education grants up to the following values in NAIRA. The top 10 essays in each category will receive consolation prizes.
Junior category (JS)

First runner-up 150,000

Senior Category (SS)
Winner 250,000

A handwritten essay. This must be scanned in PDF format. Applicants must ensure that the scan is clear and legible. Unclear and illegible essays will be disqualified.
